Wayne Edwards was a member of the Azusa Pacific Baseball team from 1983-1985. In his three seasons as a pitcher at Azusa Pacific, he finished third in career wins (22), starts (41), innings pitched (297.2), and fourth in appearances (56). In 1984, he led Azusa Pacific to its first-ever NAIA title game appearance by going 5-1 with a 1.62 ERA over the final 6 weeks of the season. In his final season with Azusa Pacific (1985), he was named to the NAIA All-District First Team. Following the 1985 season, he was drafted in the tenth round of the Major League Baseball Draft by the Chicago White Sox. Edwards would go on to play three seasons of Major League Baseball with the White Sox, going 5-5 with a 3.37 ERA in his 62-game MLB career.
