Peder Moore’s 2004 senior season as a noseguard on one of the finest defenses in Azusa Pacific history is among the legendary performances in Cougar athletics history.  The undersized but extremely strong Moore spearheaded a defense that surrendered just 9.6 points a game and only 14 touchdowns during an 11-3 season that finished in the NAIA semifinals.  For his effort and leadership, Moore was named NAIA All-American first team.  Moore and his defensive mates collected 55 quarterback sacks (nearly 4 a game) in 2004 and yielded just 1.8 yards a rush for the opponent.  Still, his career was more than just one season.  Moore appeared in 39 games during a 4-year career, starting 35, including the final 33 in a row.  He tallied 205 tackles in his career, 48 of which went for loss, to go along with 12.5 sacks, an interception, and 4 fumble recoveries.  In three NAIA playoffs games of 2004, he led a defensive unit that surrendered just 17 points (5.7 avg.), shutting out the No. 4-ranked Northwestern Oklahoma State, 16-0, and holding the NAIA’s No. 1-ranked and undefeated Sioux Falls to just a field goal in a 24-3 win. In the win at NWOSU, Moore was named Defensive Player of the Game after tallying seven tackles, including a sack, and returning a fumble for the game’s only TD while leading a defense that stymied an NWOSU offense that came in averaging 35 points and over 400 yards a game.  A celebrated wrestler at Anacortes (Wash.) High School, Moore’s quickness and strength were unmatched by teammates and foes.  He held the Cougar football program record for clean lift at 400 pounds.  Prior to the start of the celebrated 2004 season, Moore ran in the 2004 LA Marathon.
