Dawn Castaneda was a member of the Azusa Pacific Softball team from 1994-1997. She is the first Cougar Softball player ever to be named to the NAIA All-American First team. She is a three time All-GSAC third baseman, who led Azusa Pacific in batting in three of her four seasons. Throughout her career at Azusa Pacific, she set ten school records, including the program's highest career batting average (.435), most career hits (279), and longest hitting streak (22 games). In her final three seasons at Azusa Pacific, she led the Softball team to a 132-44 record, which included 2 GSAC Championships and a pair of fifth place NAIA World Series performances. She batted .439 or better in three of her four seasons, including a .430 dip her senior year, when Azusa Pacific set the program's then batting average record (.334).
