Terry Franson served as the head coach for the Azusa Pacific Track & Field team from 1980-1995. He lead the Azusa Pacific men's track & field teams to 11 NAIA Outdoor Championships in 13 years, the most in NAIA history. From 1983 - 1990, he guided the Cougars to an unprecedented seven straight national championships. From 1982-1991, he was named the NAIA Coach of the Year for ten consecutive seasons. He coordinated Azusa Pacific hosting the 1988-1989-1994-1995 NAIA Outdoor Championships. Throughout his coaching career, he coached 123 NAIA All-Americans, 81 National Championships, and eight Olympians; including bronze medalists Dave Johnson and Innocent Egbunike.
