Airat Bakare was a member of the Azusa Pacific Track & Field team from 1985-1988. Over the course of her career, she set six school-records in the 100m (12.18), 200m (23.71), 400m (51.83), 4x100m (47.55), 4x400m (3:43.77), and sprint medley (1:41.69). She is recognized as a 14-time NAIA All-American and Eight-time NAIA National Champion. Along with setting the school-record, she set the NAIA record in the 400m (51.83). Bakare led the Cougars to their first-ever GSAC title, and guided Azusa Pacific to a fourth-place showing at the 1988 NAIA Outdoor Championships. She anchored the Cougar's 4x400m and sprint medley relays to amazing comeback victories at the 1988 NAIA Outdoor Championships.
