Jennifer Dao turned a fledgling college tennis program into a national power and left a mark on a program like no other in Cougar history. When she arrived on campus in the fall of 2003, she stepped into a Cougar women’s tennis program that was just five years old. By the time she left as a graduating senior in the spring of 2007, Azusa Pacific was a three-time NAIA semifinalist program and played for the national title in 2004. A four-time NAIA All-American, including a trio of first-team selections, the Claremont, Calif., native led the Cougars to their finest four-year stretch in the program history, which included four consecutive NAIA Tournament appearances. The Cougars went 80-27 (.748) during Dao’s career, as she herself won a then-school-record 133 matches between singles and doubles play. She posted a 68-20 career record in singles play, all at No. 1 (the most wins by any Cougar at No. 1). Dao is the first representative of women’s tennis in the Azusa Pacific Athletics Hall of Fame.
