Robert Murphy was a member of the Azusa Pacific Baseball team from 1975-1978. During his four years at Azusa Pacific, he was a key member of a program that posted 130-66 record. Over the course of his career, he posted a 23-9 won/loss record with a 2.76 ERA, and 223 strikeouts in 227 innings. He set two single-season records for wins and decisions, and a school career records for appearances. At the plate, his career batting average was .330 and played in a school record 155 career-games. He is second on the Cougar all-time charts in hits (175), runs (116), and at-bats (530). In 1877, he was 14-3 with a 1.81 ERA, and batted .364 with 5 Homeruns. Following his dominate 1977 season, he was named to the NAIA All District 3 team and named an NAIA First Team All-American.
