Jim Brownfield was a Coach and Athletic Director at Los Angeles Pacific College from 1959-1963. He was describe by an opposing coach as a "Fierce competitor as a coach, and his teams reflected that in their aggressive style of play." During his time at L.A. Pacific College, he coached the football, basketball, track & field, cross country, and tennis teams. In 1959, he led the L.A. Pacific College football team to an unofficial GSAA title. He coached the team to victory in th 1960 Crusader Bowl Championship Football game for small Christian Colleges. He helped found the Golden State Athletic Association, also known as the GSAA. He was a Sports entrepreneur who devised strategies to increase public awareness of L.A. Pacific College, like playing home football games in the Rose Bowl. His accomplishments as an Athletic Director and as a Coach at L.A. Pacific earned him an induction into the Azusa Pacific Athletic Hall of Fame in 1993.
