Ellen Binkele Hurst was a member of the Azusa Pacific Women's Basketball Team from 1979-1981. In her two year career at Azusa Pacific, she tallied 810 points and 543 rebounds. During the 1980-1981 season, she helped lead the team to a fourth place finish at the NAIA national tournament, and was elected to the all-tournament first team. She finished the season as the team's leading scorer (18.8) and rebounder (11.3), with totals of 621 points (fourth on the single-season list) and grabbed 374 rebounds (second on single--season list).
