Day one of the Last Chance Twilight and Last Chance Multi was highlighted by a handful of personal records for Azusa Pacific on Friday, including a provisional time by Nathaniel Tamminga in the men's 1500.Â

Tamminga completed the race with a personal-record time of 3:50.26 on Friday evening to put his name on the qualifying list. In the same event, Marcus Dawal Jr. also ran a personal-record at 3:55.38. Ikemefuna Agubata added another personal-best for the men's team, as he leaped a distance of 6.54m (21' 5 ½") in the long jump. In the decathlon, Lincoln Krog and Chad Ponciano had a great first day through five events, with each athlete hitting personal records in the same three events (100, long jump, 400). Krog opened with a 100 time of 11.16, followed by a mark of 7.14m (23' 5 ¼") in the long jump, and then wrapped up day one with a 400 of 50.77. Ponciano had career bests of 11.29 (100), a 6.70m (21' 11 ¾") long jump, and a 400 race of 50.29. Krog will enter Saturday with 3,743 points and Ponciano holds a total of 3,635 through five events.

On the women's side, Ashley Hume (javelin) and McKenna Keefe had career days in the field events, while Alysa Henry, Meagan Warwick, and Jordan Hammond each had personal records in the heptathlon events. Hume reached a distance of 27.91m (91' 7") on Friday, which beat her previous record by more than two meters. Keefe had the best vault of her collegiate career with a clearance of 3.46m (11' 4 ¼"), which she achieved on her third and final attempt at that height. Henry PR'd in three of the four day one heptathlon events, with a 100 time of 14.66, a shot put mark of 11.43m (37' 6"), and a 200 time of 25.84. Warwick turned in career-bests in the 100 (13.94) and shot put (11.30m/37' 1"), and Hammond crossed the finish line of the 200 with a personal-best time of 25.15.
