THIS YEAR: A terrific athlete, junior Meagan Warwick is focusing on her strengths this year, the hurdles and sprints … Combines strength and speed like few others on the team … Should be a key figure in the Cougars’ pursuit of a fourth straight PacWest crown and a possible top ten finish at the NCAAs.
2020 (junior): Changed her focus from the heptathlon to the hurdles and sprints during the shortened 2020 campaign … Was a member of the Cougars’ 4x400-meter relay that qualified for the eventually-cancelled NCAA indoor championships, but nonetheless was named All-America by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches of Association … Recorded a personal record 8.98 in the 60-meter hurdles at the Dr. Martin Luther King Invitational at the University of New Mexico … Only event she ran during the season was the 200 meters, recording a season-best time of 25.41.
2019 (sophomore): Appeared in 9 meets as a 2019 sophomore, including 3 on the indoor circuit … Scored a season-best 4,534 point to finish second in the Sam Adams heptathlon at Westmont … Finished fifth in the PacWest heptathlon with 3,731 points despite not running the final event, the 800 meters … Was fourth in the PacWest long jump with a leap of 18’ 2½.”
2018 (freshman): Overcame early season injuries to close her 2018 freshman campaign strong, finishing 13th in the heptathlon at the NCAA Outdoor Championships… Qualified for the NCAAs with a season-best tally of 5,011 points at the APU Twilight Meet … At the PacWest Championships in Fresno, scored 12 points by finishing second in the heptathlon and fifth in the javelin… Posted other season bests of 125’ 5’ (javelin), 18’ 8” (long jump), 36’ 7½” (shot put), 15.24 (100 hurdles) and 2:21.75 (800).
HIGH SCHOOL: Was a 2-sport standout at Modesto (Calif.) Christian High, lettering 4 years in basketball and track & field … As a 2017 senior posted personal records of 15.44 (100 hurdles), 47.46 (300 hurdles), 18’ 3¾” … Finished sixth in the long jump at the Sac Joaquin Section Master’s and qualified for the state meet … As a 2015 sophomore, set the school record in the 100 with a 12.62 and went on to win the Trans Valley League title. As a 2014 freshman, finished fifth in the 400 at the CIF Sac Joaquin finals … In basketball as a senior named the Modesto Bee’s All-District co-Player of the Year along with her twin Nicole … As a 2014 freshman, hit the game-winning free throws in the CIF championship game vs. Florin High with 0.4 second remaining … Had scholarship offers from TCU, Kansas, Nebraska, Harvard, and UC Davis.
PERSONAL: Born Aug. 31, 1998, in Modesto, Calif., to John and Wendy Warwick … Has one brother (James) and 2 sisters (Jaci, Nicole), both of whom attended Azusa Pacific … Majoring in biology with the hope of attending medical school after graduation.
