CLAREMONT, Calif. — Competing just down the road at Pomona College, Azusa Pacific Track & Field turned in a well-rounded performance at the 38th Annual Pomona-Pitzer Invitational on Saturday, showcasing depth across sprints, jumps, and field events at Strehle Track.
The Cougars were particularly strong in the field events, highlighted by a runner-up finish from Zania Ruffin in the women's triple jump. Ruffin posted a mark of 11.64 meters to claim second place in a competitive field, leading a strong APU contingent in the event.
Joining her in the triple jump, Olivia Baerny delivered an 11.10m effort, while Zemoni Wilkins (10.29m) and Amelia Rivas (10.12m) added valuable depth for the Cougars, placing multiple athletes among the event's top finishers.
In the vertical jumps, Azusa Pacific continued to make its presence felt. Dezlyn Lundquist cleared 3.65 meters in the pole vault to finish tied for third, while teammate Alexis Wachowski added a clearance of 3.35 meters to round out a productive day in the event.
On the track, Cade Campos led the Cougar sprinters with a pair of solid performances. The freshman clocked 11.29 seconds in the 100 meters before returning in the 200 meters to post a 22.87, showing consistency across both sprint disciplines.
The meet served as a key late-season tune-up for Azusa Pacific, offering competitive opportunities across all event groups as the Cougars continue to build toward the championship portion of the outdoor season.
With multiple top finishes and strong depth across the board, APU leaves Claremont with momentum and confidence heading into the final stretch of the spring.
