After the first day of competition, three Cougars are on pace to achieve qualifying scores for Nationals (automatic: 5,207 | provisional: 4,529). Through four events (100 hurdles, high jump, shot put, 200 meters), Meagan Warwick has scored 3,129 points, Jordan Hammond is at 3,074 points, and Nicole Warwick has tallied 2,998 points.Â

In both the 100 hurdles and the 200, Meagan Warwick ran career-best times. She earned 974 points in the hurdles with a time of 14.03, and her time of 24.69 in the 200 added 915 points to her total. She also had solid performances in both the high jump and shot put, scoring 655 points (1.53m - 5' ¼") in the high jump and 585 points (10.84m - 35' 6 ¾") in the shot put.

Hammond, who is competing in just her second heptathlon of her collegiate career, posted personal records in both the high jump and shot put. She cleared the height of 1.59m (5' 2 ½") for 724 points, and turned in a score of 594 points (10.99m - 36' ¾") in the shot put.Â

For Nicole Warwick, day one competition marked the first time in nearly three years in which she has been able to participate in the heptathlon due to injuries. She scored 884 points in the hurdles (14.68), 803 points in the 200 (25.93), 724 points in the high jump (1.59m - 5' 2 ½"), and 587 points in the shot put (10.88m - 35' 8 ½").Â

Alysa Henry is also competing in the heptathlon for Azusa Pacific, and she finished with a day one total of 2,789 points.

The second and final day of the heptathlon will take place tomorrow, with the long jump, javelin, and 800 to close things out.

On the men's side, Lincoln Krog had a good first day and has a chance of hitting a qualifying score of 7,000 or more with a big day on Saturday (automatic: 7,252 | provisional: 6,325). Through five events, he has scored 3,545 points, highlighted by 806 points in the 100 meters for a personal record time of 11.25. He also scored 759 points in the 400 (51.23), 736 points in the long jump (6.67m - 21' 10 ¾"), 627 points in the high jump (1.80m - 5' 10 ¾"), and 617 points in the shot put (12.17m - 39' 11 ¼").

Krog is joined in the decathlon by teammate Ikemefuna Agubata, who scored 3,001 points on day one.Â

Five events remain on Saturday for the decathletes, as Krog and Agubata will compete in the 110 hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin, and 1500.
