AZUSA, Calif. - On Saturday at the Franson Classic, the Azusa Pacific heptathletes turned in great day two performances, highlighted by Meagan Warwick who scored 5,321 points and met the automatic qualifying standard for Outdoor Nationals. Additionally, all three other Cougars who competed in the heptathlon had provisional scores. In the decathlon, Lincoln Krog achieved provisional status with a final score of 6,560. Additionally, Azusa Pacific had a couple provisional marks in non-multi events. To view the final results, click HERE.

Heptathlon

After scoring 3,129 points on the first day, Meagan Warwick punched her ticket to Nationals by competing well in all three events on Saturday, highlighted by a personal record in the 800. In the event, she scored 832 points with a time of 2:19.34. She also scored over 800 points in the long jump, reaching a career-best distance of 5.86m (19' 2 ¾") that added 807 to her overall number. In the javelin, Meagan scored 553 points off of a throw of 34.04m (111' 8"). She is the third member of the Cougar women's track & field team to have an automatic mark this year, joining Amanda Fassold (pole vault) & Mechaela Hyacinth (100 meters). Her performance in the heptathlon this weekend is the fourth-highest nationally.Â

Jordan Hammond, Nicole Warwick and Alysa Henry all hit the provisional standard (4,529 points) for potential qualification. Hammond wrapped up the weekend with a score of 5,108, Nicole closed with 5,080, and Alysa Henry scored 4,565. Hammond's score is fifth in the nation, Nicole is just behind at number six, and Henry is 18th.Â

In his first decathlon of his collegiate career, Krog performed well enough to achieve a provisional standard (6,325). In the five events on Saturday, he scored 3,015 points to grow his final total to 6,560. In three of those events, Krog set new personal records: 100 meters (11.25), 400 meters (51.23), and 1500 meters (4:56.16). Krog is currently 17th on the Outdoor qualifying list for the decathlon.Â

On the women's side, Jaylah Walker had a great day in the 100 hurdles. Walker posted the sixth-fastest time in the country this season, finishing with a provisional time of 14.01. In the pole vault, Sara Wagenveld improved upon her previous provisional marks by clearing 3.91m (12' 10") on Saturday. With the season-best vault, Wagenveld moves up to 16th in the country in the event.Â

For the men, Daniel Bessolo ran the second-fastest 400 in the nation this season, finishing in a time of 46.93 to improve on his previous provisional positioning. For the men's 400, the automatic qualifying standard is 46.36, a time in which no athlete has achieved yet.Â
