IRVINE, Calif. — The Azusa Pacific track and field program continued its high-velocity outdoor campaign this weekend, making a statement at the Steve Scott Invitational hosted by UC Irvine. Competing against a dense field of elite collegiate talent on May 2nd, the Cougars were led by a gold-medal performance in the discus and strong vertical jump showings.

Rakocevic Reigns in the Circle

Kristina Rakocevic proved once again why she is one of the premier throwers in the country. Competing in the Women's Discus Throw, the senior standout delivered a massive toss of 53.42m (175' 3").

The performance secured a third-place finish overall in an elite field, further solidifying her position as a national title contender as the postseason approaches. Rakocevic's ability to consistently hit marks over 53 meters has become a hallmark of the Cougars' "Throws U" reputation this season.

Olson Grabs Top-10 Finish

On the men's side of the ring, Brett Olson held his own against a crowded field of 30 competitors. Olson launched a best throw of 51.18m (167' 11"), good enough to secure 9th place overall. His performance continues a string of consistent outings that have seen him climb the regional leaderboards.

Pole Vault Duo Soars

The Cougar vaulting unit displayed impressive depth, led by freshman Dezlyn Lundquist and sophomore Alexus Salazar.

• Dezlyn Lundquist cleared 3.56m (11' 8") to take home a fourth-place finish.

• Alexus Salazar matched the height at 3.56m (11' 8"), securing sixth place based on attempts.

• Alexis Wachowski added to the unit's success, clearing 3.41m (11' 2¼") to finish 11th overall.

The tactical consistency of the vaulting crew provided a major point boost for the Cougars, highlighting the technical growth of the young roster.
