This Year: A graduate-student standout for the Cougars, Kristina Rakocevic joins the Cougar team as one of the most accomplished throwers in the program and an immediate leader within APU’s throws unit … Enters the season with NCAA Division I championship experience … Poised to be a consistent point-scoring force in both the discus and shot put.
Miami: Built an exceptional résumé at the University of Miami, from where she graduated in 2024 … Was an NCAA East Preliminary Qualifier in the discus … Posted Division I personal bests of 55.39m (181' 9") in the discus and 14.93m (48' 11.75") in the shot put … Finished fourth in the discus at the 2023 ACC Outdoor Championships and produced numerous top-eight results throughout ACC competition … Consistently contributed to Miami’s throws squad across indoor and outdoor seasons, competing in nationally recognized meets such as the Mt. SAC Relays, Florida Relays, and ACC Championships.
International Experience: As an 18 year-old won the discus with a 56.36 (184’11”) at the 2016 World U20 Championships held in Bydgoszaz, Poland … Made her international debut as a 15-year old, winning the discus (46.49.m/152’6”) in the European Youth Olympic Festival at Utrecht, Netherlands … Has competed in China, Columbia, Malta, Italy, Spain, Germany, and Sweden.
Personal: Born June 13, 1998, in Montenegro, located on the Adriatic Sea … Parents are Igo and Milica Rakocevic … Has a brother (Gligorije) and a sister (Anja) … Gligorije played 4 years (2015-19) of basketball as a 6’11” center at Oregon State, appearing in 112 games for the Beavers … Working on her Master’s in Leadership and Organizational Psychology at Azusa Pacific.
