Biography

THIS YEAR:  One of the top vaulters in the nation,  Amanda Fassold holds the school record in the pole vault at 13’ 5½” … A terrific athlete who excelled in the jumps and has a gymnastics background as well, she turned her attention to the pole vault during her first semester at Azusa Pacfiic in 2018 … Teams with Sara Wagenveld and Abigail Gray to give Azusa Pacific possibly the strongest pole vault units in the nation.

2020 (sophomore):  Broke Stephanie McCann’s 20-year school record by winning the indoor Bearcat Open at Northwest Missouri State with a leap of 13’ 5¼” … Originally broke McCann’s record of 13’ 1¾” with a leap of 13’ 3½” at the Mines Alumni Classic in Colorado … Won 4 of 6 meets during the indoor season and qualified for the NCAA championships but was unable to compete because of injury.

2019 (freshman):  Appeared in 17 meets during her first year ever competing in the pole vault, qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships, finishing ninth with a vault of 12’ 4¾” … Finished fifth in the PacWest Championships with a mark of 11’ 6½” … Dabbled in the long jump, posting a season-best effort of 17’ 8¼” at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational.

HIGH SCHOOL:  Lettered 4 years in track & field at Glencoe High in Hillsboro, Ore. … As a 2018 senior qualified for the Oregon 6A State Championship Meet at Historic Hayward Field in both the 200 meters and long jump, finishing ninth in the long jump with a leap of 17’ 0” … During the course of the season, posted personal bests in the 100 (12.96), 200 (25.66), and 400 (59.94) … Battled injuries most of her 2017 junior year but still recorded a personal best of 17’ 8” in the long jump … As a 2016 sophomore qualified for the state 6A championship meet in the 200, finishing 12 overall with 25.89 … Finished third in the Metro League Meet in both the 100 (12.61) and 200 (25.89) … As a 2015 freshman, finished in the Metro League Top Ten in both the 100 (12.95) and 200 (26.90) … Ran the anchor leg on Glencoe’s 4x100 relay that advanced to the finals of the state 6A championship meet … Competed for the Silky Smooth Track & Field Club out of Portland … Also lettered 3 years in volleyball at Glencoe.

PERSONAL:  Born July 31, 2000 … Parents are Larry Fassold and Amy Irwin … Has one sister (Lauren) … Majoring in business management … Enjoys snowboarding, skateboarding and surfing.
