AZUSA, Calif. – Azusa Pacific defeated UC Santa Cruz 9-0 on Wednesday for the team's seventh consecutive win, and the Cougars reached 16 consecutive individual matches won with the perfect score against the Banana Slugs.

The Cougars only dropped two games in doubles en route to the sweep. Lisa Schneider and Lilit Vardanyan were the first ones off the court, winning 8-0 at No. 2 doubles in under half an hour.

Jackie Resler and Valeriia Kashina won their second consecutive match at No. 1 doubles to reach a team-best 13 wins in doubles. Lindsey Yeom and Kara Hinton played together for the first time and the senior-freshman duo posted an 8-1 triumph at No. 3 doubles.

Resler got off the court in a hurry, concluding her day with a 6-0, 6-1 singles victory at No. 3 singles. It was her first time playing No. 3 singles this season after posting an 11-8 mark at the position as a true freshman.

Kashina then clinched the victory with a 6-0, 6-1 win in her second career match at No. 1 singles as a Cougar, improving to 2-0 at the position. The win boosted the Cougars' record to 13-4 this season.

MacKenzie Nickerson won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5 singles and Electa Wright was perfect in producing her 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 6 singles. Yeom won at No. 4 singles 6-0, 6-1 for her 36th career victory.

Vardanyan completed the Cougar sweep at No. 2 singles, playing the position for the first time in her collegiate career. The true freshman led 6-1, 4-1, and despite dropping the second set came back to win 6-1, 4-6, 10-5.
