SURPRISE, Ariz. — No. 1 Azusa Pacific women's tennis opened the PacWest Championships in dominant fashion Wednesday afternoon, sweeping past No. 8 seed Stanislaus State 4–0 at the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex.

The Cougars improved to 21–2 on the season, extending their winning streak and advancing deeper into the conference tournament.

Stan State came out aggressive in doubles, but Azusa Pacific responded with poise to secure the early advantage. The No. 2 duo of Vini Bautista and Mariana Reveles Arreola set the tone with a dominant 6–0 win, followed by Stina Larsson and Karola Suviste grinding out a 6–4 victory at No. 1 to clinch the doubles point.

With momentum in hand, the Cougars wasted no time in singles play.

Shannele Lopez delivered a flawless performance at No. 4 singles, cruising to a 6–1, 6–0 victory to double APU's lead. Moments later, Vini Bautista followed with a commanding 6–1, 6–0 win at No. 2, putting the Cougars one point away from clinching.

Karola Suviste sealed the match at No. 3 with another dominant showing, winning 6–1, 6–1 to secure the 4–0 sweep.

Matches at Nos. 1, 5, and 6 were left unfinished with Azusa Pacific in strong positions across the board.
