Five Cougars Selected to All-PacWest Teams

Five Cougars recognized on All-PacWest teams, landing two First Team and three Second Team selections.

AZUSA, Calif.- Azusa Pacific saw five Cougars earn All-PacWest recognition following a 29-20 overall record and a third-place finish in the conference. Caitlin DeCanio and Sierra Sandoval earned First Team honors, while Sommer Quinones, Bella Fraser, and Julia Doan were named to the Second Team. DeCanio secured her fourth consecutive All-PacWest selection, while Fraser and Quinones each received the honor for the second time in their careers.

DeCanio earned First Team honors as a designated player after another standout season at the plate. She started all 49 games and hit .338 with 53 hits in 157 at-bats, including 11 home runs, five doubles, and one triple. DeCanio drove in 44 runs and posted a .592 slugging percentage with a .983 OPS. During the heart of the season, she hit safely in 19 of 22 games, highlighted by a 10-game hitting streak from March 14–28 and a nine-game streak from February 21–March 4.

Sandoval's first ever PacWest team selection was the highest honor. The third baseman started all 49 games and hit .342 with 55 hits in 161 at-bats. She recorded 14 doubles, two home runs, 25 RBI, and 75 total bases, finishing with a .466 slugging percentage and a .379 on-base percentage. Defensively, she posted a .936 fielding percentage with 50 putouts, 96 assists, and helped turn five double plays.

Quinones collected Second Team honors as a second baseman, starting all 49 games and hitting .331 on the season with 53 hits, including five doubles and two triples. She drove in 19 runs, totaled 62 bases, and had an eight-game hitting streak from March 28 to April 5. She posted a .388 slugging percentage, a .412 on-base percentage, and went 4-for-6 on stolen bases. Defensively, she recorded a .985 fielding percentage with 98 putouts and 100 assists.

Fraser earned Second Team honors as an outfielder after starting all 49 games for the Cougars. She hit .338 with 53 hits in 157 at-bats, including 13 doubles, one triple, and one home run. Fraser had an 11-game hitting streak from March 21 to April 2 and drove in 19 runs. She finished the season with a .452 slugging percentage, a .373 on-base percentage, and went a perfect 7-for-7 in stolen base attempts. In the field, she posted a .973 fielding percentage with 68 putouts and five assists.

Doan was selected to the Second Team as a utility player after contributing in multiple roles for the Cougars. She appeared in 44 games with 40 starts, splitting time mainly between shortstop and the outfield. Doan hit .350 on the season with 43 hits, including eight doubles, two triples, and four home runs. She tallied 22 RBI and 67 total bases, while posting a .545 slugging percentage, .409 on-base percentage, and a .954 OPS. She also went 11-for-13 in stolen base attempts and recorded a .938 fielding percentage with 58 putouts and 64 assists.
