After two days of the 2021 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships, the Azusa Pacific women's team holds a one point lead in the team standings with a total of 33 points. After scoring 12 points on Thursday, the Cougars scored 21 points on Friday with four athletes achieving All-American status. Lincoln Krog was the lone Azusa Pacific competitor on the men's side, finishing eighth in the decathlon to earn All-American distinction in his first NCAA Championship appearance.

In the heptathlon, Azusa Pacific finished with three All-Americans: Nicole Warwick, Meagan Warwick, and Jordan Hammond. The trio combined for 13 points, as Nicole led the way in the event for the Cougars, finishing third overall with a total of 5,244 points. Her top performance of day two came in the javelin, where she delivered a career-best performance of 36.85m (120' 10") for 607 points. The heptathlon was her second event of the week in which she earned All-American distinction, as she finished sixth in the long jump on Thursday. Meagan secured a fourth-place finish for the Cougars, scoring 5,224 points over the two days, and Hammond took seventh place with a final tally of 5,036 points.Â

The Cougars' fourth All-American of day two was Elle Alexander, who closed our her decorated Azusa Pacific career by taking second in the discus event. Alexander's podium-worthy distance was reached on her first attempt of the day, as she opened with a mark of 52.14m (171' 1"). Her performance added eight points on to the Cougars' team total, and it also distinguished her alongside Nicole as an All-American in two events. In Thursday's competition, Alexander took eighth in the hammer.Â

On the men's side, Krog became the Cougars' second All-American of the week (Jermel Jones II was eighth in the long jump on Thursday). Krog entered day two of the decathlon in 12th place, but he quickly made up ground with a pair of personal-bests in the pole vault and 1500. In the pole vault, he cleared a height of 4.40m (14' 5 ¼") to score 731 points, and then he ran a career time of 4:41.70 in the 1500, which was the final event of the two-day competition.Â

Holding just a one point lead in the team standings entering the final day of competition tomorrow, the women's team has the opportunity to score points in seven events, including two of which the Cougars had athletes qualify for on Friday. In the 200 prelims, Mechaela Hyacinth ran a personal-best time of 23.50, and Jaylah Walker turned in her career-fastest time in the 100 hurdles prelims, crossing the line at 13.78. Both athletes secured spots in their respective finals on Saturday. Â
