AZUSA, Calif. - Azusa Pacific defeated rival Biola on Tuesday for the second straight match, the contest ended 4-1. In what was their final regular season meeting, the Cougars completed the two-match season sweep of the Eagles. 

The match began as the Eagles took the first doubles match of day from the Cougars in the No. 2 doubles slot. The Cougars came right back as the No. 3 pairing of Ryan Nuno and Cole Rassner won their matchup 6-2. The pairing of Nuno and Rassner was the first time the two played together on the season. The fate of the doubles point came down to the No. 1 contest, in which Jakob Schnaitter and Leyton Bohren represented the Cougars. The hard fought battle came down to a tiebreak set. Schnaitter and Bohren went on to win the tiebreak and the set by a score of 7-6 (7-5). This clinched the doubles point for Azusa Pacific.

At No. 2, Sam Sippel put the Cougars in a good position in the singles matchups. He won impressively in straight sets by a score of 6-1, 6-0. Freshman Caden Samkutty followed right behind by winning his No. 6 matchup 6-2, 6-0. The Eagles won in the No. 3 position, making the match score 3-1. However, No. 1 Schnaitter would clinch the match for the Cougars, just as he helped clinch the doubles point earlier on. Following the close doubles match Schnaitter was involved in, he won his singles match in straight sets 6-0, 6-4. This secured the 4-1 Azusa Pacific victory. The win improved the Cougar's record to 11-3 on the season. 

Azusa Pacific will be back in action this coming Friday, April 9 against Concordia. The match is set to begin at 2:30 PM. It will be a home outing for the Cougars and the live stats can be followed here.
