SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -- Azusa Pacific's swimmers won a dual meet with Westmont on Saturday afternoon, as the Cougars emerged victorious by a 136.5-106.5 final score. Out of 14 events on the day, Azusa Pacific took first in 10 races.Â

To open the meet, the Cougars won the 400 yard medley relay, as the quartet of Tessie Scavone, Delanie Gearing, Emily Rigsby and Riley Smith combined for a time of 4:10.89 to claim 11 points. Azusa Pacific picked up an additional two points in the event by a third place finish from the team of Karina Parker, Holly Williams, Nicole Barton and Naomi Vaughn.

A few events later, Rigsby added nine more points to the team total with a first place finish in the 200 yard free, posting a time of 2:01.20. Parker also scored two points for the Cougars, placing fourth.

In the 100 yard breast, the Cougars finished one-two, as Gearing was first (1:10.69) and Williams claimed second. Gearing's victory was the first of four straight wins for Azusa Pacific, as Scavone won the 200 yard butterfly (2:14.16), Rigsby was the 50 yard free champion, and Parker was first to the wall in the 100 yard free (59.35).Â

While Westmont broke the first-place streak for the Cougars with a win in the 200 yard back, Azusa Pacific placed first in all of the final five events.Â

Gearing won her third race (including the 400 medley relay) of the day in the 200 yard breast (2:30.61), Smith claimed first in the 500 yard free (5:09.89), freshman Janelle Ng won the 100 yard butterfly (1:03.63), Scavone took the gold in the 400 yard IM (4:41.34), and the Cougars closed it out with a first-place finish in the 200 yard free relay (Smith, Rigsby, Gearing, Scavone - 1:42.22).Â
