Tempe, AZ. -- Azusa Pacific closed out day two of the Arizona State Cross Conference Challenge Saturday afternoon by falling short to Sonoma State, 9-10 before dropping its second match of the day against Hawai'i, 4-17.
Sonoma State 10, Azusa Pacific 9
Early in the first period, Azusa Pacific jumped out to a strong start offensively after two quick goals from Hannah Bradley and Tutusaus Alcaraz. Sonoma State attempted to rally back with a goal at the 5:20 mark, but the Cougars quickly responded with two more goals to extend their lead 4-1. 
After a last second goal at the end of the first period, Sonoma State carried that same momentum into the second frame and added three additional goals to tie the score even at 4-4. 
Both teams traded momentum back and forth throughout the final sixteen minutes of regulation, but Sonoma State seized control in the fourth and final period outscoring the Cougars 3-2 to break the 9-9 tie and seal the victory for the Seawolves. 
Hannah Bradley and Kyra Kahahawai led the Cougars offensively, they both scored two goals for Azusa Pacific. Also showing strong play for the Cougars was M. Guzman Ortiz, who collected four steals and a goal.
Hawai'i 17, Azusa Pacific 4
The Rainbow Wahine used a strong first half to pull away from Azusa Pacific, as they outscored the Cougars 10-3 before the half. In the second half, Hawai'i outscored Azusa Pacific 7-1 over the final sixteen minutes of regualtion. 
Azusa Pacific was led by Mireia Tutusaus Alcaraz, who scored two goals for the Cougars while teammates Bradley and Gabby Martinez each collected a goal. Junior Olivia Lott played all 32 minutes in the goal for the Cougars, notching one save in the game.

Azusa Pacific, 2-6 overall on the season, will look for its second matchup against Hawai'i at home on Wednesday, February 19 at 5:00 p.m.Â
