Azusa Pacific surged ahead right out of the gates, as senior
Mar Pastor Alvarez scored just 33 seconds into the game, to give the Cougars an early 1-0 lead. Senior
Arianne Yeo extended the Cougar lead to 3-0, as she scored two consecutive goals with 5:45 in the first period, and then again at 4:26. Azusa Pacific would close out the first period with a 5-2 lead, as junior
Mireia Tutusaus Alcaraz and sophomore
Hannah Bradley scored a goal each in the period.

Azusa Pacific would maintain the lead through the rest of the match, as the Cougars outscored Saint Francis 3-2 in the second, 2-1 in the third, and both sides scored two goals in the fourth period. Azusa Pacific finished with 35 shots taken in the game, while Saint Francis took just 12 shots. Neither team was able to capitalize on exclusions drawn, as the Cougars finished 0-for-3 on powerplay opportunities, and Saint Francis was 0-for-11. The Cougars were 4-0 in sprints to begin the periods.

With the win, Azusa Pacific is now 12-9 on the season. The Cougars will travel to San Diego this weekend, as they will play three matches in the Aztec Invitational, hosted by San Diego State. All three of the Cougars' opponents are ranked in the top-25 nationally, as Azusa Pacific will face #22 San Diego State on Friday, March 8 at 3:00 p.m., #24 Bucknell at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 9, and #14 UC San Diego, at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
