In the first game of the day, the Cougars were locked in a 3-3 battle midway through the second period. Azusa Pacific would grab control of the game, scoring four unanswered goals over the remainder of the second period and the majority of the third, taking a 7-3 lead with 3:21 left in the third. While Pomona-Pitzer would score three goals over the remainder of the game, Azusa Pacific added two more insurance goals, which halted any hope of a comeback.

Annalise Batcheller and junior
Sarah Adams, who each scored three goals in the game. Senior
Mar Pastor Alvarez had two goals for Azusa Pacific, while sophomore
Gabrielle Martinez added one goal. Martinez, Pastor Alvarez, and Batcheller each had an assist in the match. For the entire 32 minutes of the contest, sophomore
Olivia Lott was in goal for the Cougars, recording five saves and picking up her second win of the season.

Azusa Pacific took 21 shots, while Pomona-Pitzer took 23. The Cougars were 2-for-5 in powerplays, while Pomona-Pitzer was 0-for-11. Both Azusa Pacific and Pomona-Pitzer went 1-for-1 in five meter penalties.

From the outset of the game, UC Irvine was in control. UC Irvine scored the first six goals of the game, before senior
Marissa Joerke scored Azusa Pacific's first goal of the match with 4:52 left in the first half. However, UC Irvine would score three more goals before halftime, taking a commanding 9-1 lead into the break. While the Cougars scored five goals in the second half, UC Irvine added seven more goals over the final 16 minutes of the contest.

Milena Guzman scored a team-high two goals for the Cougars, while Joerke, Pastor Alvarez and sophomore
Britni Tisdale each had one goal. Two Cougars saw action in goal, as Lott had a save and three steals, and junior
Kristine Khachikian recorded two saves and a steal.

While Azusa Pacific was able to draw a significant number of penalties, the Cougars were 0-for-10 in powerplays, and 2-for-3 in five meter penalties.

The Cougars, now 2-4 on the season, will travel to the Arizona State Conference Crossover Challenge in Tempe, Ariz., with two matches on Friday, Feb. 1, and Saturday, Feb. 2. On Friday, Azusa Pacific will take on UC Santa Barbara and Princeton. The Cougars' opponents on Saturday will be Cal State Monterey Bay, and host Arizona State.
