LOS ANGELES – Pacific's offensive firepower was too much to overcome.
The top-seeded, and seventh-ranked, Tigers raced out to a big lead en route to a 16-8 win against Azusa Pacific at the Golden Coast Conference tournament on Saturday afternoon.
After the semifinal contest Pacific plays in the third straight season where they face the host school – Loyola Marymount. The Cougars move to the third-place contest where they play #21 San Diego State at 12:45 p.m. on Sunday.
On Saturday Pacific raced out to a 7-1 lead after the first quarter and 12-2 once the game went to halftime.
In the third quarter Azusa Pacific made a solid comeback effort as they outscored the Tigers by a three-goal margin (5-2) in the third period to pull within 14-7. A Gabrielle Martinez goal early in the fourth quarter brought the Cougars within 14-8 but that was as close far as the comeback attempt would come.
While the Cougars couldn't pull out the victory, Hannah Bradley put together another quality effort. The freshman strung together a hat trick for the second straight game with each of her shot find the back of the cage.
The rest of Azusa Pacific's five goals were spread out over five different scorers.
Erica Marquez made three saves in the first three periods before Olivia Lott took over in the fourth quarter with a two-save effort.
