Three hat tricks contribute to a 13-9 victory over the Eagles of Fresno Pacific as the Cougars improve 3-1 in the Golden Coast Conference.

Fresno opened the game with a lead over the Cougars scoring within the first minute of play. Mar Pastor Alcaraz tied the game with a power play goal, midway through the quarter the Eagles reclaimed the lead.
Mireia Tutusaus Alcaraz took a shot at the goal that was deflected by
Alex Paxton who ultimately was credited the goal which once again tied things up. The tie was short lived as the Eagles found the net once again taking a 3-2 lead. A power play goal scored by Pastor Alvarez brought the score even once again now 3-3. The Cougars took the lead late in the first quarter as Tutusaus Alcaraz scored a power play goal.
Erica Marquez fought off an Eagles power play goal to allow the Cougars to take a 4-3 lead into the second quarter.

Paxton scored a power play goal early in the second quarter to extend the Cougars lead followed by another goal made by teammate
Megan Myers increasing the lead 6-3. Fresno was silent for the start of the second but made some noise midway through the quarter as they found the back of the net closing the score 6-4. Once again
Alex Paxton found the back of the net with a power play goal. Pastor Alvarez recorded the first of three Cougar hat tricks late in the second quarter. Marquez registered her third save of the first half as the buzzer went off ending the first half holding the Eagles to 8-4.

Myers was credited for her second goal of the game in the opening minute of the second half. The eagles scored a penalty goal cutting the Cougars lead in half.
Annalise Batcheller added to the Cougars lead over the Eagles with an assist from teammate
Arianne Yeo midway through the third quarter notching a five-point lead. Myers joined in on the hat trick fun scoring her third goal of the game towards the end of the quarter. The Cougars held the Eagles to a one goal quarter leading 11-5 going into the final quarter.
Pastor Alvaraez added to her hat trick scoring her fourth goal of the game followed by
Britt Harris recording her first goal of the game. The Eagles being held off by the Cougars found the net halfway through the fourth closing the gap but remained trailing the Cougars 13-6. The Eagles capitalized by scoring a power play as the Cougars Marquez was ejected. With the momentum of the power play goal the Eagle rallied two more goals to finish the game 13-8.
The Cougars travel to Loyola Marymount Saturday to continue conference play.Â
