Santa Clara, Calif. – Azusa Pacific faced host team Santa Clara University in the opening round of the Golden Coast Conference. Beating the Broncos 7-6, moving on to the conference semifinals for the first time school history.

The game stayed even throughout, as each quarter concluded with the game tied. The first half was low scoring for both teams as defense prevailed leaving the score scoreless at the end of the first quarter.
Britt Harris broke the silence scoring early in the second quarter, the Cougars were seconds away from taking a one-goal lead into halftime when the Broncos tied it up 1-1.
The second half saw both teams take more shots making for a nail-biting finish. Broncos took hold of the score notching two goals early in the third quarter. Their two-goal lead was short-lived as Harris registered two back-to-back goals tying up the game once again.

Megan Myers and
Alex Paxton took control of the final quarter scoring one a piece. From there on the scoring went back and forth as the Broncos found the net, which was answered by a Cougar goal courtesy of
Annalise Batcheller notching her first goal of the day. The Broncos tied the game with two late goals in the fourth.
It looked like another quarter was going to end in a tie resorting to overtime. With 11 seconds left in the game
Mar Pastor Alvarez scored the game-winning goal for the Cougars.
The Cougars move on to the semifinals against top-seeded San Diego State University tomorrow evening at 1:30 p.m. if they win tomorrow's semifinal game the Cougars will have their first winning season ever.
