Hats off to the Cougars who registered two hat tricks courtesy of Seniors
Megan Myers and
Alex Paxton in their 10-9 overtime win over Santa Clara, freshman
Sarah Adams scored a clutch goal late in overtime to recording the winning goal. The Cougars are now 12-10 overall and 2-1 in conference.
Mar Pastor was the first one to find the back of the net early in the first quarter. After Pastors goal the scoring went back and forth between the teams as the Broncos scored twice as Paxton and Myers both recorded their first goals of the day ending the first quarter with a 3-2 lead over the Broncos.
The second quarter was silent until Myers tallied her second goal of the day midway through the quarter. The Broncos found the net late in the second, being outshined by Marissa Joerkes goal made leading into halftime increasing the Cougars lead to 5-3.
The Broncos registered one goal in the third as Paxton found the net for the second time keeping the Cougars ahead 6-4.
Paxton registered her final goal of the game accounting for the Cougars lone goal in the fourth. Broncos came back scoring three times, tying the game and forcing the game into overtime.
Annalise Batcheller found the net first entering overtime, followed by a goal from Myers. The Cougars momentum was put on pause as the Broncos tied things up once again scoring back-to-back goals. Adams scored the game-winning goal late in the sixth.
Erica Marquez tallied 17 saves in the cage holding the broncos to nine goals.
The Cougars return home to play Fresno Pacific at 5:00 p.m. Thursday at Charter Oak High School in Covina.
