RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Azusa Pacific improved to 10-8 overall, recording their first-weekend sweep of the season beating Concordia University 14-6 and Villanova University 7-2 at the Lancer Invitational.
It's been three years since the Cougars held a NCAA Division 1 program to a low two point defecate, last time being against St. Francis (N.Y.) in 2014.
Game One – Azusa Pacific 14, Concordia 6
The Eagles were the first to find the net early in the first quarter as
Annalise Batcheller recorded back-to-back goals fro the Cougars. Teammate
Alex Paxton added to the scoreboard allowing the Cougars to take a 3-1 lead into the second.
Megan Myers started the second off with a goal early in the quarter, scoring two more throughout the quarter. As
Mireia Tutusaus Alcaraz and
Carinna Prince each recorded two consecutive goals. Concordia found the net three times trailing the Cougars 9-4 going into halftime
The Cougars defense held the Eagles to two goals for the remainder of the game. As Azusa Pacific racked up five more goals in the last two-quarters made by, Batcheller, Adams, Prince, Myers, and Tutusaus Alcaraz bringing the final score to 14-6.

Game One – Azusa Pacific 7, Villanova 2
Azusa Pacific held the Wildcats to a low 2 goals while tallying up 7 goals in their favor.
Marissa Joerke recorded the first goal of the game, very early in the first quarter.
Myers found the net improving the Cougars lead to 2-0 going into the second. Myers started the second where she left off, scoring early in the quarter. Villanova found the net once improving 3-1 going into halftime.
Adams and Batcheller contributed a goal apiece in the third, expanding the Cougars lead over the Wildcats 5-1. Villanova entered the final quarter scoring their final goal of the game while
Arianne Yeo and
Britt Harris recorded two goals to add to the Cougars 7-2 win.
