RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Azusa Pacific swept on day one of the Lancer Invitational beating Claremont Mudd-Scripps-Colleges 8-5 in their third and final run in of the season. Improving 8-8 on the season after their 12-1 win over Redlands.

Megan Myers and
Alex Paxton are the only Cougars who were around the last time they their opponent to one or fewer goals. The two were freshman when the Cougars shutout Penn State Behrend at the Claremont Convergence in 2014.

Game One – Azusa Pacific 8, CMS 5

The first quarter was slow as Claremont found the net first late in the quarter,
Britt Harris recorded her first goal of the game in the last minute of the first. Entering the second tied at 1-1, the Athenas were first to fin the next in the second taking a one-point lead over the Cougars briefly. Harris tapped out with her second and final goal of the game tying the game up once again 2-2 entering halftime.

Azusa Pacific ran away with the lead as
Carinna Prince recorded a single goal and teammate
Annalise Batcheller recorded two, holding the Athenas to a single goal third quarter holding on tightly to their two point lead.
Never settling the Cougars continued to lengthen their lead scoring three times early in the final quarter, made by
Mireia Tutusaus Alcaraz,
Arianne Yeo, and Myers. Claremont found the net twice towards the end of the quarter but came up short 8-5.

Game One – Azusa Pacific 12, Redlands 1

Game two was a scoring spree for the Cougars as they totaled 12 goals against the Bulldogs while holding them scoreless into the fourth. Seven of the Cougars goals were courtesy of Tutusaus Alcaraz, whole
Erica Marquez totaled 13 saves in the net.

Tutusaus Alcaraz scored almost half of her goals in the first along with teammates Yeo and Batcheller who both recorded one a piece. Jumping to an early 5-0 lead, Tutusaus Alcaraz recorded all three of the Cougar goals in the second more goals allowing to Cougars to go into halftime ahead 8-0.

The third saw Tutusaus Alcaraz tally her seventh and final goal of the game alongside fellow Cougar Yeo who found the net once bringing the score to 7-0, continuing the shutout into the fourth.

The Bulldogs recorded their one and only goal early in the final quarter, as the Cougars
Sarah Adams and Myers each found the back of the net once sealing the team's eighth win of the season.
