PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Azusa Pacific women's water polo team wrapped up their opening weekend at the Brown University Bruno Classic Invitational Sunday afternoon dropping two games against Indiana University 11-7, then Hartwick College 9-6.

Six Cougars registered goals in their first game of the day as freshman
Mireia Tutusaus Alcaraz posted her second multi-goal game in her collegiate debut weekend.
The Hoosiers scored the opening goal answered by Azusa Pacific's
Mar Pastor who evened the score midway through the first quarter. Before the quarter could conclude Indiana found the net two more times.
Early in the second quarter
Britt Harris registered a goal for the Cougars, the Hoosiers responded making two goals. The quarter didn't end before both teams had a chance to record one more goal bringing the score to 6-3 Indiana.
Azusa Pacific defense continued to hold the Hoosier's to two goals in the third. The Cougars joined in on the scoring courtesy of
Alex Paxton who recorded one.
The Cougars and Hoosiers each saw the back of the net three more times to finish up the fourth quarter.

Megan Myers registered half of the Cougars six goals along with teammate
Ashley Taylor who recorded her first multi-goal game of the season.
"Hard fought challenges this weekend," said head coach
Julie Snodgrass. "They were tough losses."
The Cougars got off to a quick start recording the first goal of the game, scoring twice within seconds. The Hawks responded making three goals taking the lead into the second quarter.
Hartwick scored twice in the second quarter as the Cougars struggled to find a way into the net. Azusa Pacific quickly found themselves trailing by three.
Midway through the third quarter, both teams' offenses saw action. Hartwick tallied four and the Cougars registered two. Azusa Pacific found themselves down 9-4 going into the fourth.
The Cougars silenced the Hawks holding them scoreless in the fourth, rallying two goals bringing the score to a 6-9 deficit.

The Cougars find themselves 1-3 on the season. They play next at their home opener February 18th against California State University Northridge at 9:00 a.m.
