WHITTIER, CALIF. – At the Whittier Invitational, the Azusa Pacific women's water polo team recorded their sweep of the season. Beating the Poet of Whittier College, the defending SCIAC champions in their home pool 9-8 in overtime and Athenas of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps College 14-8 at the Lillian Slade Aquatics Center.

After three periods of trailing Whittier, the Cougars had a loud comeback in fourth to silence the Poets taking the game into overtime where each team scored once respectively. Ultimately the Cougars found the net in the sixth to capture the 9-8 overtime win.

Led by Taylor's hat trick, nearly every Cougar found the back of the net against the Athenas. For the second time Marquez totaled nine saves in the net. The Cougars held the Athenas to one goal in the first while taking a three-point lead.
The second quarter silenced the Cougars as the Athenas tied the score. The Cougars came back even stronger after the half totaling six goals in the third and holding Claremont to one goal.
Both teams saw plenty of action in the fourth, the Cougars never giving up their lead eventually edging the Athenas 14-8.
