The Cougars split their home opener dropping game one against the Matadors of California State University, Northridge 8-7 and beating the Sagehen's of Pomona-Pitzer 6-5.Â

Britt Harris recorded a multi-goal game along with five other Cougars finding the net against the Matadors.

Northridge was the first team to score, answered by a goal from
Megan Myers. The Matadors would score two more times before freshman
Sarah Adams closed the gap bringing the score to 3-2 in the last 50 seconds of the quarter.

Harris registered a goal to start the second quarter with help from
Mar Pastor, followed by two Matador goals. As
Ashley Taylor closed the second quarter recording a goal late in the second with an assist from teammate Myers.

Myers recorded her own goal in the third being the first player to find the net in the second half, followed by two Matador goals.

The Cougars outscored the Matadors in the final quarter with goals fromÂ
Mireia Tutusaus Alcaraz and Harris but fell short 8-7.

Annalise Batcheller and Pastor registered goals along with a second goal by Pomona-Pitzer, entering the second quarter tied 2-2.Â

Pomona-Pitzer scored midway through the second quarter answered by the Cougars Taylor recording a goal with help from teammate Myers.
The deadlocked score continued into the third when Adams found the net halfway through with help from Pastor. The Hens weren't far behind, bringing the score to an even 3-3 going into the fourth.
The Cougars took the lead with goals from Alcaraz and
Alex Paxton winning 6-5.
