Singles Victories Come Up Short

SAN DIEGO, Calif.- All four of Azusa Pacific's singles victories were won in the third set. The Cougars dropped today's matchup against nationally ranked No. 29 Point Loma 5-4.

Results

Natalie Johnson in the No. 1 slot started strong against opponent Nikki Newell sealing the win in the third set 6-2, 0-6, 6-3. Lisa Schneider beat the Sea Lion's No. 2 player Shelby Groeneveld coming back from a 5-7 start, Schneider won 5-7, 7-6, 6-3. Kara Hinton in the No. 4 spot registered a 4-6, 7-6, 6-3 victory over Nicole Canaratta. The Cougars Jackie Resler came back from behind recording a 0-6, 6-1, 6-4 win over Point Loma's Michelle Torres.
 
The Cougars were leading 4-2 going into doubles but were not able to scratch a fifth win. The Sea Lions swept the Cougars in doubles the for a comeback.  
 
Azusa Pacific returns to their home court Thursday the 16th against California State University Los Angeles at 1:30 p.m.
