AZUSA, Calif. -- Azusa Pacific continued its battle top ranked teams this fell at the hands of #4 Barry on Tuesday. The Cougars were unable to muster a win after being swept in the doubles matches and falling at No. 2 and No. 3 singles. The rest of the singles matches were unfinished, although the Cougars had won the first set in three of the four that were left unfinished.
Match Results
The at No. 1 doubles, the 20th ranked team of junior Ana Pain and sophomore Sonja Larson of Barry defeated APU's junior Natalie Johnson and junior Lisa Schneider 8-4.
Pain and Larsen carried their doubles victories into singles wins to seal the match. At No. 2 singles, 11th ranked Larsen defeated Schneider 6-3, 6-3. At No. 3 singles Pain, who's ranked fourth nationally, defeated Cougar junior Valeriia Kashina 6-3, 6-2.
It was the third straight loss for the Cougars, all coming at the hands of top 10 teams. Azusa Pacific will be back on the Court on Friday, March 10 against Palm Beach Atlantic.
