Azusa Pacific 10, VMI 5
Azusa Pacific had just about everything go their way in dispatching of the Keydets.
The Cougars won every sprint to start the quarters and never let VMI win a period in claiming the victory. Azusa Pacific took advantage of their opportunities, as they were 3-for-5 on the extra person attack, plus limiting the damage when they were down a person – VMI went 1-for-6 on their extra person chances.

Mar Pastor started the scoring less than a minute into the game, and four seconds into an extra person attack opportunity. After the Keydets briefly tied the score Azusa Pacific scored the next five goals, and seven of the next eight, to take full command of the game.
During that opening stretch Maryann Slama scored twice while the Cougars spread out the remaining goals among five different players. Azusa Pacific led the game 7-2 at intermission.
A relatively low scoring third and fourth quarters ensued. Each team scored once in the third period then the squads split four goals in the final eight minutes.
Slama completed her hat trick with a fourth quarter goal while Pastor post a multi-goal game with her second net finder with 27 seconds left.
In front of the cage Katie Margot blocked six shots.

The Spartans jumped out to a 5-1 lead after the opening quarter in aiding in their victory.

San Jose State was effective enough on the extra person opportunities as they converted three goals on 10 of their chances. They were solid when down a person as they limited the Cougars to a 1-for-8 success rate on their opportunities.
As the game progressed the Cougars got their first period deficit down to 6-3 in the second frame after a power play goal from Britt Harris. However, they couldn't pull any closer than that three-goal spread.
San Jose State scored four of the final two quarters five goals to seal the win.
Azusa Pacific had their opportunities with 28 total shots, 11 of which made it on frame.
