Chapman finally broke a scoreless drought that lasted over 8 minutes when Juliana Botting cut the Azusa Pacific lead to 8-6 midway through the third quarter, but Hess and Elven answered with consecutive goals in less than a minute to push the lead to 10-6.
Hess scored all 3 of her goals in an 8-minute stretch between the second and third quarters, and sophomore Jennifer Horchler scored 2 of her 3 goals after halftime to lead the Cougars to an 11-6 second-half scoring advantage.
