AZUSA, Calif. — No. 22 Azusa Pacific showed resilience Thursday afternoon, rallying from an early deficit to defeat Fresno Pacific 5–2 at the Munson & Bayougian Tennis Complex. The win pushes the Cougars to 12–2 on the season.
Fresno Pacific grabbed the early momentum by sweeping the doubles point. The Sunbirds secured victories at both No. 1 and No. 2 doubles before the match at No. 3 was left unfinished.

Trailing 1–0 heading into singles, Azusa Pacific responded with a dominant showing across the lineup.
Shannele Lopez was the first Cougar off the court, rolling to a 6–0, 6–2 victory at No. 4 singles to even the match. Kimberly Tran quickly followed with a 6–0, 6–1 win at No. 6, and Melis Mert added another convincing performance with a 6–1, 6–2 victory at No. 5 to give APU the lead.
At the top of the lineup, No. 33 Stina Larsson delivered a statement win over No. 40 Fabiana Gonzalez, 6–3, 6–3, helping secure the fourth point for the Cougars. Karola Suviste later capped the afternoon with a straight-set victory at No. 3.
Fresno Pacific earned its second point at No. 2 singles, but the Cougars controlled the majority of the courts after the doubles deficit.
