AZUSA, Calif. - Women's volleyball opened the 2025 season in dominant fashion, earning recognition as one of the PacWest Conference Teams of the Week after a perfect 3-0 showing at the APU/CUI Tournament.
The Cougars dropped just one set across three matches, defeating Regis, Western Oregon, and Texas Woman's to secure their best start to a season since 2020. APU's offense was firing on all cylinders, finishing the weekend with a conference-best .313 team hitting percentage.
"Our team came out strong and played with great energy all weekend," said head coach Chris Keife. "It's exciting to start the season this way, and we're looking forward to building on this momentum."
The PacWest awarded four teams with Team of the Week honors after each posted 3-0 records during opening weekend action. Fresno Pacific defended its home floor with wins over Chico State, UC Merced, and Stanislaus State, while Concordia Irvine earned victories against Western Oregon, Cal State Dominguez Hills, and Texas Woman's, led by setter Nevada Knowles' 84 assists and 30 digs. Westmont rounded out the group by sweeping UC Merced, Stanislaus State, and Chico State at Fresno Pacific's tournament.
