APU Track & Field Announces the Return of Elle Rogers as Throws Coach

Nationally recognized scholar-athlete and former APU standout rejoins staff to guide the next generation of Cougar throwers.

AZUSA, Calif. — Azusa Pacific is proud to announce the return of Elle (Alexander) Rogers to the Cougars' Track & Field program as the new Throws Coach. A standout alumna and one of the most decorated athletes in APU Track & Field history, she brings back a legacy of excellence that will immediately elevate the program.

Rogers returns to Azusa with a remarkable blend of competitive success, academic achievement, and leadership experience. During her collegiate career, she emerged as one of the top throwers in the nation, earning NCAA All-American honors in both the discus and hammer in 2021. Her exceptional performance and commitment to her team and community led to her selection as an NCAA Woman of the Year candidate, a recognition reserved for student-athletes who demonstrate outstanding academic success, athletic achievement, leadership, and service.

Her impact in the classroom was equally distinguished. Rogers was named the Pacific West Conference Track & Field Scholar-Athlete of the Year, honored as an NCAA Academic All-American, and graduated Magna Cum Laude, reflecting the same dedication and discipline that defined her athletic career.

During her previous coaching stint at APU, she played a central role in the growth and competitive rise of the Cougars' throwing group. Her technical expertise and athlete-centered approach helped guide throwers to new milestones, conference honors, and national-level competition.

As she steps back into her role with the program, Rogers will oversee all throwing disciplines and make significant contributions to athlete development and recruitment. Her return marks a critical moment for APU Track & Field, as she brings back a coach who not only understands the tradition of the program but also played a crucial role in its development.
