"Another outstanding year for Cougar Athletics is in the books!," said Director of Athletics Gary Pine, "I could not be more proud of our coaches and student-athletes for their determination and commitment to excelling athletically, academically and spiritually. We have continued the rich history of athletic excellence here at Azusa Pacific, and I am excited to see us continue to reach even greater heights."

Previously, Azusa Pacific was a member of the NAIA's Golden State Athletic Conference, where the Cougars won the GSAC's equivalent award, the All Sports Award, for 18 consecutive years (1994-2012). The Cougars also won the NAIA's Directors Cup for eight consecutive years, as Azusa Pacific was the top sports program among all NAIA athletic programs from 2005 through 2012.

The Bob Hogue Commissioner's Cup was established in 2007-08 to honor the athletic program with the best overall performance in that academic year. The competition is based upon average finish in PacWest sports. The scoring system awards points to schools based on their finishes in conference-sponsored sports. The point total varies for each sport and is based upon the number of schools competing. Regular-season standings are used for baseball, basketball, soccer, softball and volleyball, while the results of the conference championships in the sports of cross country, golf and tennis are factored in. When teams are tied in the standings, the points awarded to those positions are added together then distributed evenly among the schools. Click HERE to see the final results from the 2023-24 year.
