229 Cougars Earn All-PacWest Academic Honors for 2024–25

Cougars shine in the classroom breaking school record.

AZUSA, Calif. Azusa Pacific University had 229 student-athletes named to the 2024–25 PacWest All-Academic Team, the highest total in program history since joining the conference. The Cougars' academic success was part of a record-setting year across the PacWest, with a conference-best 2,728 student-athletes honored.

To qualify for the All-Academic Team, student-athletes must earn a 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher, complete at least two semesters at their institution, and participate in a PacWest-sponsored sport or redshirt during the season.

Azusa Pacific's 229 honorees represent the most ever for the department, surpassing the previous high of 218 student-athletes named in 2022–23. The accomplishment underscores APU's commitment to excellence in both academics and athletics across all programs. Among the highlights, Cougar Baseball ranked third among all men's programs in the conference with 36 selections.

"This honor reflects the high standards our student-athletes set for themselves on and off the field," said Director of Athletics Gary Pine. "It takes tremendous commitment to compete at a championship level while also excelling in the classroom, and I couldn't be prouder of our student-athletes and the support staff that empowers them."

This year's PacWest total of 2,728 All-Academic honorees represents a 44 percent increase from last year's record of 1,900. Even with the addition of three new schools in 2024–25, the academic growth is unprecedented. The conference also celebrated 186 student-athletes with a perfect 4.0 GPA—another all-time high
