AZUSA, Calif. - #20 Azusa Pacific improved its record to 13-0, after the Cougars beat Western New Mexico by a 4-0 score on Wednesday.
The doubles point was quickly claimed by the Cougars, as they won at No. 1 and No. 2. At No. 1,
Elias Emilio Walter and
Miha Velicki earned a 6-1 win to improve their record to 9-2 together.
Cole Rassner and
Brody Bohren won at No. 2 by a 6-2 score. The No. 3 match was forfeited by the Mustangs.
Playing with just five players in singles, Western New Mexico forfeited at No. 6, which gave the win to Bohren to make it 2-0 Cougars. Walter put the hosts on top by a 3-0 score with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 2, as he improved his singles record to 13-0.
Cole Rassner secured the final point of the day for the Cougars at No. 4, where he opened with a 6-0 first set, and then ended with a 6-3 second set.
With the match already clinched, it was called with Velicki up 6-3, 2-0 at No. 1, while
Constantin Barth had not begun his match at No. 5.
