Box Score AZUSA, Calif. - #20 Azusa Pacific put the finishing touch on another unbeaten week on Friday evening, as the Cougars knocked off MSU Denver by a 6-1 score to go 4-0 on the week, and 14-0 overall.Â
Soeren Grandke and
Constantin Barth got things going in commanding fashion for the hosts, as they posted a 6-0 shutout win at No, 3 doubles. The pair is unbeaten in seven matches.
Cole Rassner and
Brody Bohren clinched the doubles point at No. 2, where they increased their unbeaten streak to six matches with a 6-4 victory.
Elias Emilio Walter started off a string of five consecutive wins for the Cougars in singles, as he won his No. 2 dual by a 6-0, 6-1 score. Walter has now won three consecutive matches by the straight-set score of 6-0, 6-1, and he has held his opponents to two or fewer games won in 15 sets thus far. At No. 4, Grandke won by an identical 6-0, 6-1 score to put the Cougars up 3-0 and improve his record to 13-1.Â
Rassner would serve as the match-clincher for the Cougars with a 6-4, 6-3 triumph at No. 3. Rassner is now unbeaten in his last three matches.
With the match sealed, Barth and Bohren added victories to the score column for Azusa Pacific, as Barth won at No. 5 (6-1, 6-3) and Bohren won in three sets (6-0, 0-6, 6-3). Barth is 11-0 this season. The lone point for the Road Runners was earned at No. 1.
