MANKATO, Min. - Azusa Pacific track and field took a trip to the Midwest to compete in the Maverick Premier #1 on Friday at Minnesota State, Mankato.

SPRINTS
Due to races being held on a 200m flat track, all times for events 200m and up are converted to what they would be if run on a standard 200m banked track. 

Dominic Gonzalez-Shelmire opened up his first race of the indoor season with a win, a meet record, and a spot on the national qualifying list. To win the men's 400m, Gonzalez-Shelmire clocked a 48.42 (47.66 converted), placing him at No. 12 in the nation in the event, and entering his name in the meet record books. 

Nicole Warwick also competed for the first time this season on Friday, opening up her season with a provisional mark in the women's 60H. In the prelims, Warwick ran a career-best 8.45, leaving her at No. 5 in the nation.

Alayna Verner competed in the women's 400m, taking first place with a time of 55.14 (54.42 converted) to set a meet record in the event.

FIELD
Off the track, Hannah Richardson had a standout performance in the women's shot put. Richardson threw 15.54m (51'0") to take first place in the event, out-throwing second place by over 5 feet. This mark is a career-best by Richardson, improving on her former PR by 3 feet, and moves her up 12 spots on the national qualifying list where she now sits at No. 3. 


Nicole Warwick leaped to her second provisional mark of the evening in the women's long jump, clinching a commanding first-place finish. Her furthest jump of 6.30m (20'8") places her at No. 2 in the nation in the event for her second national top-5 performance of the day.
