VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Azusa Pacific added more hardware to its storied trophy case this weekend at the NCAA Indoor Championships, as the Cougars' elite talent took center stage at the Virginia Beach Sports Center. Behind a gritty performance in the multi-events and a powerhouse showing in the circle, the Cougars secured two massive podium finishes on the national stage.
FISCHER REIGNS IN THE PENTATHLON
Luisa Fischer proved once again why she is one of the premier multi-event athletes in the country. Competing in the women's pentathlon, Fischer battled through five events to secure third place overall with a stellar total of 3,991 points.
Fischer's path to the podium was defined by consistency and clutch performances in the vertical and throwing events. She opened the day with a 8.93 in the 60m hurdles, followed by a standout 1.68m clearance in the high jump—the second-best mark in the field. After solid results in the shot put (13.24m) and long jump (5.45m), she closed the door on the competition with a 2:21.22 in the 800m to lock in the bronze.
With the finish, Fischer earns her second indoor All-American honor and the third of her decorated APU career.
RICHARDSON DEPOSITS SILVER IN SHOT PUT
Later in the afternoon, the spotlight shifted to the shot put circle, where defending indoor national champion Hannah Richardson looked to protect her crown. In a high-caliber final, Richardson delivered a massive toss of 16.22m to claim second place in the nation.
While she narrowly missed the repeat title, the silver-medal performance further cements her status as a collegiate throwing icon. Like Fischer, Richardson walks away from Virginia Beach with her second indoor All-American trophy and the third overall of her career, adding to a legacy of dominance for Azusa Pacific.
