SEATTLE, Wash. - A handful of Cougars traveled to Seattle for the weekend to compete in the Ken Shannon Last Chance Invite where a pair achieved provisional marks on day one.
MEN
The Cougars opened up the first day of competition with
Joey Rauwerda's provisional performance in the pole vault. Rauwerda cleared 4.78m (15"8 ¼") on his last attempt at the height to secure a spot on the national qualifying list and record a season-best mark.Â
On the track,
Makel Hubbard advanced to the finals of the 60 hurdles, where he ran a career-best time of 8.28.Â
In the first distance showing of the year on the men's side,
Felix Perrier and
Jared Wright competed in the 3000m run. Perrier won his heat with a career-best 8:13.12 to meet the national qualifying standard. He also landed a spot on the APU all-time list, where he sits at No. 3 in the event. Wright also clocked a career-best time, running 8:19.52 to claim No. 5 on the APU all-time list.
WOMEN
Esther Conde-Turpin advanced to the finals in the 60 hurdles, where she ran a time of 8.38. This mark places her at No. 4 in the nation in the event. In the long jump,
Nicole Warwick placed second overall with a leap of 6.03m (19'9 ½").Â
