CLAREMONT, Calif. - Azusa Pacific track and field opened up its outdoor season at the 2024 Pomona-Pitzer All Comers Meet on Saturday.
Nicole Warwick and
Alysa Henry highlighted the day with their first provisional performances of the season.Â
WOMEN
Nicole Warwick dominated the long jump with a leap of 6.24m (20'5 3/4"), to land a spot on the outdoor national qualifying list. In the 100 hurdles, Warwick clocked a time of 14.11, clinching another first-place finish and claiming another provisional mark.
Alysa Henry set a personal record in the javelin, out-throwing her previous best by over seven feet. Her throw of 48.25m (158'4") won the event and hit the national qualifying mark. She also won the 200m in 25.80.
Azusa Pacific went 1-2 in the 400m, with
Maliyah Medley taking first in 57.78, and
Jordan Davenport making her Cougar debut with a time of 59.07 for second place.
In the field,
Molly Olson threw 12.20m (40'0 1/4") in the shot put to claim the top spot in the event. In the triple jump,
Olivia Baerny was victorious, leaping 11.48m (37'8") and securing another first-place finish for the Cougars.
MEN
Joey Rauwerda, 2x PacWest pole vault champion, opened his outdoor season with a first-place finish in the event, clearing 4.60m (15'1"). In the triple jump,
Raymon Harper took second with a leap of 14.35m (47'1"). On the track,
Juwan Perkins ran a career-best in the 400m, clocking a time of 50.93 for a second-place finish.
Up Next: The outdoor season continues next weekend, when the Cougars will return to Claremont to compete at the Rossi Relays on Saturday, Feb. 24.
